You have just proved my point, saying there is not many is not accurate at all, it is so wrong. "i dont know of many" may be true which is different. saying you dont hear of many rock bands either, the emphasis should be on you, because they do exist.

Germany and Spain have a big alternative scene, Germany especially has a huge rock scene, probably bigger than the UK; But you wont here them because of the point i made, the majority of English people listen to music only played by English media.

Rap and Hip Hop also has massive scenes in France, Spain and Germany to name a few.

House music and other dance/electronic are probably the most accepted worldwide, because even the big names are usually underground, so if you truely like them then thats where you go, where they all are. There is 1 scene for each genre of electronica...Its probably the most universal.

Actually you have got a point, to a certain extent. I do like some European bands but there's not many. You don't hear of that many rock bands from Europe, I can only name HIM, Within Temptation, Lordi, Ramstein and Lacuna Coil. The first 3 I listen to a lot but the last 2 very rarely. If the likes of Radio 1 and Kerrang were to play more from Europe then I'm sure I would listen to more.

That is my rocker opinion anyway.

thats because you are a typical uncultured brit who lets the english media decide what you listen to ;)

Like the majority of the english, they only know of music from the US or UK, or the odd time other artists break into the mainstream UK chart.

and i wouldnt really count the UK as Europe, it just happens to lie near the continent, nothing much more.
